Queensland Country Life Chief of Staff James Nason is the winner of the Rural Press Club’s Excellence in Rural Journalism Award for 2010.

His prize is a trip to the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists World Congress to be held in Ostend, Belgium in April.

The Queensland Governor, Her Excellency Penelope Wensley, made the presentation to James at the Club’s first function of the year in Brisbane.

Inaugural Rabobank broadcast award finalists

The first State finalists in the new Star Prize Award for Rural Broadcast Journalism were announced in Brisbane today.

The award is sponsored by Rabobank and the work of the national winners will go on to represent Australia at the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists World Congress in Ostend, Belgium, in April.
Rabobank broadcasts new media award

Major rural lender, Rabobank, has come on board as sponsor of Australia’s first national broadcast award for rural media.

State finalists in the Australian Star Prize for Rural Broadcasting will now compete for $1000 in prize money, thanks to the support of the bank. The winning entries will go on to represent Australia in the first ever international award for rural broadcasting, due to be announced in Belgium in April 2010

Primary Industries week began with a promise this year that by 2020, the value of agriculture in Queensland will triple to $34 billion according to the Minister for Primary Industries and Fisheries, Hon. Tim Mulherin. Mr Mulherin announced the ambitious prediction during his address at the Rural Press Club recently.
