Kerry Lonergan has been the face of Landline’s market and commodities report for near a quarter of a century, he is also the founder executive producer for the ABC’s flagship rural program Landline and a driving force behind its success.

Starting his career as a freelance writer in the 1960’s, Kerry worked his way north, landing him self a TV job at Channel 9 in Brisbane.

After some contemplation he was enticed into a job with the ABC. He soon specialised a rural reporter, and in 1991 convinced ABC to launch a country program, for country people. We still know this program to be Landline.

Kerry was announced as 2015’s Rural Journalism Hall of Fame inductee at the Rural Press Club’s annual Ekka Breakfast on the 6th of August. He was then formally inducted at a special event in Longreach on Friday 29 September 2015.
